Slump Season – Trusting God When the Hits Won’t Come

You’ve been grinding at the plate, but nothing’s falling.

Line drives straight to gloves.

Your swing feels off.

Confidence is cracking.

You’re in a slump.

In baseball—and in life—slumps happen. They don’t ask for permission. They show up unannounced, mess with your rhythm, and whisper lies like “You’ve lost it” or “You’re not good enough.”

But here’s the truth: a slump doesn’t define you. It refines you.

Slumps reveal character. Anyone can praise God when they’re going 4-for-4. But what about when you’re 0-for-your-last-20? Do you still believe God has a plan? Do you still trust He’s working even when the box score says otherwise?

James tells us to count it joy when we face trials—not because they’re easy, but because they grow us. A slump is a trial. It tests your faith, exposes your mindset, and stretches your patience. But it’s also where God meets you in a deeper way. He’s not just watching from the dugout—He’s in it with you.

God’s plan doesn’t fall apart just because you’re struggling. Sometimes, the struggle is the plan. It’s where He forges resilience, grit, and trust—not in your swing, but in Him.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4 (ESV)

Let’s Pray

Heavenly Father,

I choose to trust Your plan, even when I don’t see the results I want. Strengthen me. Remind me that my identity isn’t in my performance, but in Your grace. Grow me through struggle. Give me the grit to keep showing up, the faith to keep believing, and the wisdom to learn what You’re teaching me in this season.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.

Are you in a slump right now—on the field or in life? Stop pretending everything’s fine. Get honest with God. Then show up, work hard, stay grounded in the Word, and trust God even when the scoreboard doesn’t favor you.

Keep swinging.

Keep praying.

Keep trusting.

The breakthrough might not come today. But God is building something in you that stats can’t measure.

Blessings In Christ,

The Team at Bibles and Baseball
