The Season Will End:
Baseball has a rhythm to it.
There are walk-off wins that send everyone pouring out of the dugout. There are tough losses where the ride home is quiet. There are long practices under a hot sun, rain delays that test your patience, and off-seasons when no one is cheering, but the work continues.
There is a time to celebrate. A time to grieve a loss. A time to push harder. A time to recover. A time to let yesterday’s mistake stay in yesterday. A time to play the game with everything you’ve got.
Life follows a similar rhythm.
There are seasons when promotions come, babies are born, prayers are answered, and blessings seem to overflow. There are seasons when jobs disappear, relationships break, diagnoses come, dreams fall apart, and tears seem to come easier than smiles.
Some seasons are exciting. Others are painfully ordinary. Many are simply hard.
King Solomon understood this truth.
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NIV)
He goes on to describe life in all its variety:
“…a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance… a time to be silent and a time to speak… a time for war and a time for peace.” — Ecclesiastes 3:4,7-8 (NIV)
God never promised that every season would feel the same.
He never said every game would end in victory.
He never promised every prayer would be answered on our timetable.
He never guaranteed that life would always be comfortable.
But He did promise something even better.
He promised Himself.
While seasons change, God does not.
While emotions rise and fall, His character never shifts.
While circumstances can change overnight, His promises remain secure.
The writer of Hebrews reminds us:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)
That means He is just as faithful after a crushing loss as He is after a championship win.
He is just as present during physical therapy after an injury as He is while you’re holding the tournament trophy.
He is just as worthy of worship in the waiting as He is in the celebrating.
Coaches, you’ll have seasons when your players buy in and seasons when they don’t.
Parents, there will be years when your child thrives and years when confidence disappears.
Players, there will be games where everything clicks and games where nothing seems to go right.
Fans, there will be unforgettable victories and heartbreaking defeats.
Don’t build your hope on changing seasons.
Build it on the unchanging God.
His Word remains true when culture changes.
His mercy is still new every morning.
His love has never weakened.
His promises have never failed.
Long after the final out is recorded and the scoreboard goes dark, the Lord is still on His throne.
The season will change.
God never will.
Live It
Whatever season you’re in today, don’t measure God’s faithfulness by your circumstances. Measure your circumstances by God’s faithfulness.
Celebrate wholeheartedly when blessings come.
Grieve honestly when loss arrives.
Work diligently during ordinary days.
Rest when it’s time to recover.
And through every season, keep your eyes fixed on the One who never changes. His Word is still true. His promises still stand. His love is still enough.
Let’s Pray
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for being the one constant in a world that is always changing. Seasons come and go. Wins and losses, joy and sorrow, strength and weakness all have their place, but You remain the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Thank You for the celebrations that remind us of Your goodness and for the difficult seasons that teach us to trust You more deeply. When life is exciting, keep us humble. When life is painful, keep us faithful. When life feels ordinary, help us continue doing the work You’ve placed before us with excellence and perseverance.
For every player, give courage to compete with integrity and to find their identity in Christ instead of the scoreboard. For every coach, grant wisdom to lead with conviction, patience, and grace. For every parent, provide strength to encourage, support, and point their family toward You. For every fan, help us remember that while baseball is a gift to enjoy, You alone are worthy of our ultimate devotion.
Teach us to celebrate without becoming prideful, to endure hardship without losing hope, to rest without guilt, and to work with all our hearts as an act of worship. Help us trust that every season has a purpose, even when we cannot yet see it.
Anchor our hearts in Your unchanging Word. Remind us daily that Your promises never fail, Your mercies are new every morning, and Your love is everlasting.
No matter what season we find ourselves in today, may we remain faithful because You have always been faithful to us.
In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray.
Blessings In Christ,
The Team at Bibles and Baseball
