The Dugout Matters Too:

Lessons From The Dugout Series – Week 1 (Ecclesiastes 4:9–10)

Every player wants to be in the lineup.

They want to take the field. They want the opportunity. They want to help their team win.

But sometimes their name is not called.

That does not mean they do not matter.

The dugout can change the game too.

A teammate offers encouragement after a strikeout. A player celebrates someone else’s success. Someone helps another player get back up after a mistake.

Those moments may never appear in the scorebook, but they still make an impact.

The same is true in life.

We often believe that our value depends on being noticed.

We want the position. We want the recognition. We want the spotlight.

But Jesus showed us that true greatness is found in serving others.

Sometimes God calls us to step onto the field. Other times, He calls us to encourage someone from the dugout. Both roles matter.

Your value is not determined by your position, your playing time, or how many people notice you. Your value comes from the God who created you and loves you.

You do not have to be in the spotlight to make an impact.

Encourage someone. Celebrate their success. Help them after a mistake. Remind them that they are not alone.

Whether you are on the field or in the dugout, you can point others toward Jesus.

“Two are better than one… For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.”

Live It

Find one person you can encourage, celebrate, or help this week.

Choose to be a great teammate—even when no one is watching.

Let’s Pray

Lord, help us remember that our value does not depend on recognition or attention. Teach us to encourage others, celebrate their success, and help them when they fall. Whether we are in the spotlight or serving quietly, let our words and actions point people toward Jesus.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Blessings In Christ,

The Team at Bibles and Baseball
