Built to Perform:
No serious baseball player walks onto the field with broken equipment on purpose.
Players take care of their glove.
They choose the right cleats.
They tape their bats.
They hydrate.
They stretch.
They train.
They recover.
Why?
Because they understand performance is affected by preparation.
A player cannot expect to perform well while constantly neglecting the tools they have been given.
The same is true physically and spiritually.
God created the human body with incredible detail, ability, and purpose. Strength, movement, coordination, endurance, vision, recovery — none of it is accidental. Your body is not random. It is part of God’s design.
Psalm 139:14 says, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”
Because our bodies are gifts from God, believers should treat them with reverence, gratitude, and responsibility.
That includes being mindful of:
- What we eat
- What we drink
- How we rest
- How active we are
- How we care for our physical health
Not out of vanity. Not out of obsession. But out of stewardship.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you… therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
For athletes especially, this matters.
You cannot fuel your body recklessly and expect peak performance.
You cannot ignore rest and expect strength.
You cannot avoid movement and expect endurance.
Healthy habits matter because the body matters.
Even Jesus understood the importance of physical rest. There were times He stepped away from crowds to rest, pray, and recover. God designed human beings with limits intentionally.
Some people treat their bodies carelessly while demanding that their bodies perform exceptionally.
That does not work in baseball, and it does not work in life.
1 Corinthians 9:27 says, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection…”
Discipline honors God.
Choosing nourishing food over constant junk.
Choosing water over things that damage the body.
Choosing sleep over endless distraction.
Choosing exercise over laziness.
Those choices are not merely physical decisions. They are spiritual acts of stewardship.
Your body is a gift.
Your abilities are gifts.
Your strength is a gift.
Your athletic talent is a gift.
And gifts should be handled with gratitude and care.
Baseball players respect their equipment because they know it affects the game.
Believers should respect their bodies because they belong to God

Let’s Pray
Lord, thank You for creating us with purpose and design. Thank You for the abilities, strength, and opportunities You have given us. Help us honor You by caring for our bodies wisely and faithfully. Give us discipline in what we eat, drink, think, and do. Teach us to view our physical health as stewardship and not take Your gifts for granted. Help us use our strength and abilities to glorify You in every area of life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessings In Christ,
The Team at Bibles and Baseball
