Reset and Refocus

Keep Your Eye on the ball; a devotional series by Bibles and Baseball

Step Back. Lock In. Play On.

Every good hitter knows what to do when things aren’t clicking. When the timing feels off… When the last swing was ugly… When the pressure starts to creep in…

They don’t panic. They don’t quit. They step out of the box.

They adjust their gloves. They dig their cleats back in. They take a breath. They reset.

Faith works the same way.

Life has a way of speeding up the count on us. Responsibilities pile up. Mistakes replay in our minds. Disappointments shake our confidence. Before we know it, we’re swinging at everything—trying to fix things in our own strength, pressing harder instead of seeing clearer.

That’s when God invites us to step out of the box.

Resetting doesn’t mean giving up. It means realigning. Refocusing. Remembering where our strength comes from.

Jesus doesn’t step away when we struggle. He doesn’t grow impatient when we miss a swing or strike out looking. He stays steady—unchanging, faithful, present—ready for the next pitch. His grace meets us right where we are, not where we think we should be.

Scripture reminds us of this promise:

“Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” — Psalm 34:5

When we lift our eyes back to Him, shame loses its grip. Fear loosens its hold. Our perspective shifts. We may not control the pitch, but we can choose where we’re looking when it comes.

And here’s the good news: Every pitch is a fresh opportunity. Every moment is another chance to trust. Every day is an invitation to refocus.

Yesterday’s strikeouts don’t define today’s at-bat. God’s mercies are new every morning, and His presence is constant through every inning of our lives.

Live It

Take intentional time today to reset your focus on Christ. Step away from the noise. Sit in quiet. Open Scripture. Pray honestly. Even a few unhurried minutes can realign your heart and steady your soul.

Ask yourself: What am I focusing on right now—and where is God inviting me to refocus?

Let’s Pray

Jesus, Thank You for Your patience and faithfulness. When we feel overwhelmed or off-balance, help us step back and reset our focus on You. Restore our confidence, calm our hearts, and teach us to trust You with what’s next. We place this moment, this day, and the next play in Your hands.

In your Holy name we pray, Amen.

Blessings In Christ,

The Team at Bibles and Baseball
