Steady Through Every Season:

 

Baseball will expose you.

One week you can’t miss a pitch. The next week you can’t buy a hit. You make a great play on Monday and boot a routine ground ball on Thursday. The game is built on inconsistency.

That’s why every player, every team, every family needs something steady.

And for a lot of players—that steady presence has been mom.

She’s there when you go 3-for-3 and when you go 0-for-4. She’s there after the error, after the strikeout, after the loss. Her presence doesn’t rise and fall with your performance. She shows up. She stays. She speaks when it matters and stays quiet when it’s needed.

That kind of consistency does something deeper than we realize—it shapes identity.

But even that kind of steadiness is just a reflection of something greater. The same steady presence you see in moms is even greater in God.

God doesn’t have off days. He doesn’t get frustrated and pull back. He doesn’t change based on your performance.

Lamentations 3:22–23 says: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Baseball games progress and change, and so does life, but God is constant and faithful. Psalm 136:1 reminds us “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”

And Moms- never underestimate the power of your consistency.

The daily sacrifices, the early mornings, the packed bags, the conversations in the car, the prayers nobody hears, the encouragement after hard games, the discipline, the hugs, the correction, the forgiveness—those moments are shaping your children far more than you realize.

Your ministry is not built in one big moment. It is built through faithful presence over time.

Keep showing up.

Keep loving.

Keep pointing your children to God.

The world teaches kids that love is conditional—that people stay when things are easy and leave when things get hard. But a faithful mother has the opportunity to show something different.

Every time you remain steady, patient, forgiving, and present, you are giving your children a glimpse of the character of God.

They are learning what steadfast love looks like.

They are learning what grace looks like.

They are learning what faithfulness looks like.

No mother does this perfectly, but faithfulness matters. Your children do not need a perfect mom—they need a godly mom who consistently directs their eyes toward Christ.

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 says: “These words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children…”

Keep teaching.

Keep praying.

Keep modeling faith.

One day, your children may forget scores, records, and trophies, but they will remember the mother who faithfully loved them, stayed beside them, and continually pointed them toward God.

Live It

This week, stop letting your performance define you.

When the game goes bad, don’t hang your head and disappear. When the game goes well, don’t let pride take over. Stay grounded. Stay steady.

Players — remember your identity is bigger than batting average, errors, or stats. God’s faithfulness to you does not change with the scoreboard.

Coaches — be the steady voice your players need. Correct them. Challenge them. But also remind them that failure is part of growth and that one bad inning does not define a man.

Parents — especially moms — never underestimate the impact of consistent presence. The rides, the encouragement, the prayers, the late nights, the support after tough losses—it matters more than you know.

And for all of us: build your life on the One who never changes. The world is inconsistent. Baseball is inconsistent. Emotions are inconsistent. But God is faithful every single day.

Show up. Stay faithful. Trust God through every season.

Let’s Pray

Father,

Thank You for being steady when everything around us feels inconsistent. Thank You for staying faithful when we struggle, fail, fall short, or lose confidence. Your love does not rise and fall with our performance, and Your mercy is new every morning.

Help us become people who are steady in our faith, our character, and our actions. Give players the strength to keep competing when the game gets hard. Give coaches wisdom to lead with truth and consistency. Give parents endurance to keep showing up, encouraging, and loving well through every season.

Thank You for the mothers who sacrifice, support, pray, and stay present through the highs and lows of the game and of life. Honor their faithfulness and strengthen them when they are tired.

Most of all, remind us that our identity is not found in stats, trophies, wins, or failures—but in You.

Teach us to trust You in every season and to reflect Your faithfulness to the people around us.
