Keep Your Eye on the Ball - Focus Wins

Keep Your Eye on the ball; a devotional series by Bibles and Baseball

Every coach says it because it separates winners from spectators:
Keep your eye on the ball.”

Talent doesn’t matter if your focus slips. One second of distraction and you miss the catch, blow the play, or strike out. Focus isn’t loud. It isn’t glamorous. But it’s what wins games.

Life works the same way.

God gives us a clear command, not a suggestion:
Fix your eyes on Jesus.” (Hebrews 12:2)

Not glance. Not check in when convenient.
Fix your eyes.

When Christ is your focus, everything else finds its place. Decisions get simpler. Pressure loses its grip. Fear doesn’t get to call the shots. You stop reacting and start leading.

Jesus becomes the anchor point—the one who connects it all:

  • Your past, fully forgiven
  • Your present, firmly guided
  • Your future, completely secure

Men lose their way when their focus drifts. Careers, money, success, comfort, habits, and noise all compete for attention. None of them are strong enough to carry the weight of your life. Only Christ is.

A distracted man is vulnerable.
A focused man is dangerous—in the best way.

Live It

Don’t overthink this. Be honest.

  • What’s the one distraction pulling your eyes off Christ right now?
  • Is it your phone, your grind, a relationship, a habit, or your own ego?

Name it and repent. Take action today—not tomorrow.

Set a boundary. Cut the noise. Open the Word. Pray before you scroll. Lead yourself before you try to lead anyone else.

Focus isn’t about intensity for a moment.
It’s about discipline every day.

Keep your eye on the ball.

Let’s Pray

Jesus,

We don’t want to be fully faithful to you.  We want You at the center of our lives. Help us lock our eyes on You when pressure rises and noise gets loud. Strengthen our discipline, sharpen our focus, and steady our hearts. Make us followers of you who live with purpose, clarity, and courage.
In your Holy name we pray,

Amen

Blessings In Christ,

The Team at Bibles and Baseball
