Every Step Follows the Ball
Every Move Depends on Christ

Keep Your Eye on the ball; a devotional series by Bibles and Baseball

In baseball, nobody just wanders around the field. Every movement has a purpose. Infielders shift based on the count. Outfielders take a few steps in or back depending on the hitter. Base runners lean, watch, and react instantly. Every step depends on where the ball is—and where it’s about to go.

The moment a player stops tracking the ball, mistakes happen. A missed fly ball, a bad throw, or being caught off base usually starts with losing focus for just a second.

Life works the same way. Every decision we make—how we react under pressure, how we treat teammates and family, how we respond to winning or losing—should be shaped by Christ. When we lose sight of Him, we drift out of position. We react emotionally instead of wisely. We rush ahead or fall behind. But when we keep Jesus front and center, we’re ready for whatever comes our way.

Scripture reminds us of this truth: “In Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:17)

Jesus isn’t just watching from the stands. He’s not a distant coach yelling instructions after the play is over. He’s directing the play itself. When we follow Him closely, our lives stay aligned. Even when things move fast or feel uncertain, He holds everything together.

Following Christ doesn’t mean life gets easier—but it does mean we won’t be lost or hopeless. Just like a great player stays locked in on the ball, a faithful believer keeps their eyes on Jesus.

Live It

Before reacting today, pause and ask yourself: Is this step following Christ, or am I just reacting on emotion or pressure? Let Jesus set your positioning—in your words, your attitude, and your choices.

Let’s Pray

Lord, Help us keep our eyes on You even when everything else seems to pull us

away or distract us. When life moves fast, remind us where to step and how to respond. Keep our feet moving in rhythm with Your will, on and off the field.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Blessings In Christ,

The Team at Bibles and Baseball
