The Ball Starts the Game
Jesus Starts Everything

Keep Your Eye on the ball; a devotional series by Bibles and Baseball

Before the uniforms matter, before the lineup is announced, before the stands fill up—there is one non-negotiable detail: the ball must be put in play. No ball means no pitch. No pitch means no game. Everyone can be standing on the field, but nothing actually happens until the ball is involved.

The ball is not optional. It’s essential.

Faith works the same way. Jesus isn’t just part of Christianity—He is the beginning of it. Without Him, faith becomes empty motion. People can still go through routines, say the right words and show up on Sundays, but without Jesus, the purpose is gone. In Jesus we have hope, forgiveness and eternal life.

The Bible calls Jesus:

“The author and finisher of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:2)

That means He writes the first page and the last. He starts the game, controls the flow and brings it to completion. We don’t earn our way onto the field—He invites us into the game.

Live It

Ask yourself honestly: Did my faith start with Jesus, or with pressure, tradition, or expectations? Today is a great day to recommit to starting—and continuing—with Him.

Let’s Pray

Jesus, thank You for starting what we could never start ourselves and doing for us what we could never do for ourselves. Help us trust You from the first pitch to the final out. In your Holy name we pray, Amen.

Blessings In Christ,

The Team at Bibles and Baseball
